Vincent Van Gogh, born in a small Dutch village in 1853, has become known as one
of the art worlds greatest painters and also one of its most tragic figures. Although he was little recognized in his lifetime,
within just a few years of his early death his distinctive style was influencing the artistic movements of the future and
today his works sell for record sums. Vincent was an intelligent, articulate man, who spent much of his adult life dogged
with depressive anxiety illness. After a fit of insanity he was admitted into an Asylum. This unstable mind, during his "asylum
years", helped him create some of the most incredible works of fine art ever produced, including: "Cafe at Night"(1888), "Starry
Night"(1889), "Field of Wheat with Cypresses"(1889), "Irises in Vase"(1890) - but also led to his tragic suicide at the age
of 37. Van Goghs work remains some of the most exceptional ever produced by one artist.

Vincent
Van Gogh was the ultimate painter that, being undoubtedly ahead of his time, opened the doors to modern art. There is
no other artist that expresses himself on the canvas with such vitality and passion. Van Gogh's paintings are not only full
of color and movement but also replete with his personal envisions and dreams. He painted with his soul more than with his
hands, looking to Nature and to everyday things with great admiration and joy.
